The best wall lights and sconces to shop now
Every month, the House & Garden decoration team pick an accessory for your house and gather together the loveliest examples for their shopping feature. This month, Ruth Sleightholme has chosen a wide range of wall lights and sconces to give your rooms a glow-up, from traditional options, to abstract designs and industrial pieces, with some made from unexpected materials such as leather and others in classic paper or glass shades. As well as the delightfully surprising spectrum of designs, the lamps sit at a range of price points, whether you're looking for a statement investment piece or a fun wall light that won't break the bank. Read on to shop Ruth's choices.
Wall lamps and sconces are a wonderful way to add an even glow to a room, when you don't want a big overhead ceiling light or to rely on standing lamps. They also work well in smaller spaces, perhaps a hallway or landing where a floor lamp might be awkward. Other ideas for placing wall lights include on either side of the bed (angle adjustable ones are ideal for use as reading lamps), or on each side of a bathroom mirror to create flattering lighting on the face. Wall lamps can also be used to illuminate paintings and other artwork, or simply to sit alongside them, creating harmony and decorative interest on a wall. And as you can see from the pieces below, wall lights exist as beautifully designed sculptures in their own right, even when not in use.
